SAG Awards 2016 winners list: Spotlight, Idris Elba, and more ...
Awards season continued full steam ahead with the presentation of the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday night, honoring the best performances in film and television from the past year.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Idris Elba, and Alicia Vikander won the film acting awards, with DiCaprio, Larson, and Vikander expected to take home similar honors at the Academy Awards next month. Elba, who won best supporting actor for Beasts of No Nation, was not nominated at the Oscars.
Spotlight, meanwhile, won best ensemble cast, the SAG Awards equivalent of best picture.
On the television side, the casts of Orange is the New Black andDownton Abbey won ensemble acting trophies, while Jeffrey Tambor (best actor in a comedy for Transparent), Uzo Aduba (best actress in a comedy for Orange is the New Black), Kevin Spacey (best actor in a drama for House of Cards), and Viola Davis (best actress in a drama for How to Get Away with Murder) were cited for individual honors. Elba won a second award, for best actor in a limited series for his role on Luther

The SAG Awards also included a tribute to Carol Burnett, who was the recipient of this year’s Life Achievement Award, (Tina Fey and Amy Poehler presented her with the honor).
